Donna Ray, a Carer has shared her experience as a Carer at Daffodil Lodge and her passion for her role.

With three years under her belt at Daffodil Lodge and previous experience with end-of-life patients in the community, we were keen to hear Donna’s story.

A carer plays a crucial and multifaceted role in a care home setting, and their importance cannot be overstated. Carers are the heart and soul of care homes, providing physical, emotional, and social support to residents.

Their dedication and compassionate care significantly contribute to the well-being and overall quality of life of those they serve.

Donna Ray said:

“I feel like I belong here, and I wish I’d come here years ago. It’s a proper family atmosphere and I wouldn’t change a thing.

“A lot of residents just want to be heard and why shouldn’t they? I’ve built amazing relationships with residents here and I look forward to seeing them every day.

“Working in a care home is not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. Each day brings opportunities to make a positive impact and to bring comfort and joy to those who need it most.

“We are a family here at Daffodil Lodge, and we cherish the bonds we share with our residents and with each other.

“We all have a laugh together and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
